Good Thursday Morning,

The forecast is for a very fine spring day in the 60's. We so deserve this.

In math class we are continuing on with solving 1 step equations. Today will be the review before the quiz on Friday. This quiz will cover everything in 7.1 -7.4 including vocabulary: terms, like terms, coefficients, constant team, inverse operations. You should be able to solve and check equations in this section. Bring all your questions in as we will be doing a whiteboard review during class.

Homework is to prepare for the quiz.

The chuckle for the Day: What will happen to the inch worm when we go metric?
It'll become a centipede! Hee Hee Hee....

Have a great day..

Good Wednesday Morning,

In math class today we are still continuing on with solving 1 step equations using inverse operations to balance them. From yesterday's lesson and comments, I feel that a great deal of you are catching onto the steps. Good work on plowing through this difficult stuff. We will correct the homework(page 336 # 12-30 even#) and then answer any questions you still have.

For homework: page 339 # 1-12

The chuckle for the Day: Why was the meter stick such a stubborn ruler?
Because he wouldn't give an inch! Hee Hee Hee...

Have a great day.

Good Tuesday Morning,

Hope everybody had a somewhat easy time with the homework on multiplying and dividing equations. Although it was new, it was very much based on what we have been doing. The steps of locating the side you are working on, combining like terms on each side, inverse operations to balance, solving and checking are all the same for adding and subtracting. Make sure you bring in your work and questions and we will go over these in class.

The homework for the Day: page 336 # 17-31 odd # and # 34,35,36

THe chuckle for the day: What is a forum?
Twoum + Twoum!!! Hee Hee Hee.....

Have a great day.

4-7-08

Good Monday Morning,

Are you ready to start a new week? I hope so, because we are off and running in math this week.

Last week we were solving 1 step equations by finding the inverse operation of adding or subtraction of the constant that was on the variable side to balance the equations. Today we will slowly look into multiplication and division problems. Recognizing these is the trick to finding the inverse operation. Hang on, ask questions and we will get through this.

Classwork( homework) page 336 # 12- 30 even # solve and check.

The chuckle for the day: Why did the kid sleep with a ruler?
He wanted to see how long he slept! Hee Hee Hee...

Have a great day.

TGIF,

We made it through this week with solving 1 step equations. Do you get the feeling that there may be a 2 step equation? If you guessed yes, you are so right, there are 2 step equations that involve multiplication and division. But for today, we will stick to adding and subtracting the 1 step equations. After going around the rooms yesterday, I found that most of you are catching onto this process. We will go over the homework(practice 7.3 C #1-11 odd). With the time remaining we will go over the evens on the white boards.

There is no written homework, but please review all the rules for + - x / for decimals, fractions, and integers.

The chuckle for the Day: How does a cow add?
With a COWculator!!! Hee Hee Hee....

Have a great weekend.

Good Thursday Morning,

How are you doing with solving 1 step equations? With this being new, it can be difficult. Make sure you bring any and all questions you may have to class so we can have a solid foundation for our next steps coming up. Use your flip books or textbooks for references to help getting used to the steps needed to solve and check these equations. Remember the steps: work on the variable side, combine like terms on each side, inverse operations to balance, solve and check.

We will be going over the homework (practice 7.3 B #1-15 odd)in class.
The homework for the day is to complete the practice 7.3 C #1-11 odd number only.

The makeup test for chapter 6 will be today during tutorial. Come in asap to complete the test.

The chuckle for the Day: A visitor at the Royal Tyrell Museum asks a museum employee, "Can you tell me how old the skeleton of the T-Rex is?"
"It is precisely 60 million and three years, two months, and eighteen days old."
"How can you know that with such precision?"
"Well, when I started working here, one of the scientist told me that the skeleton was 60 million years - that was precisely three years, two months, and eighteen day ago...!" Hee Hee Hee...

Have a great day.

Good Wednesday morning,

Quite a windy morning it is. Hope none of you lost any homework in the wind!!!

In math class we are continuing on with adding and subtracting equations. This is the foundation to solving more difficult equations, so we need some more practice. Make sure you use the flip book or textbook for a reference. Brief overview of the steps- Know what side to start on- combine terms if possible- inverse operations to balance - solve - check the answer. Alot to learn but soon this will be secondhand. Let me know how you are doing by submitting comments today.

For homework: Practice 7.3 B #1-15 odd show all work on the back of the sheet.
Textbook homework: page 330 #28-29.

Today and Thursday is the makeup test for chapter 6. If you have the signed test, corrections and made a practice tutorial, come in for the retest. If not you must do so immediately.

The chuckle for the Day:
Math Teacher: " Divide 14 sugar cubes into three cups of coffee so that each cup has an odd number of sugar cubes in it>"
Matt: "That's easy: one, one, and twelve."
Teacher: "But twelve isn't odd!"
Matt: "It's an odd number of cubes to put in a cup of coffee!" Hee Hee Hee.....

Have a great day.

Oh no, it's April Fool's Day,

I am confident that no one will even try to pull an April Fool's Day joke on me!!! I am on the lookout for them, so try if you must, I am ready!!

Today we are having a regular schedule so we will have plenty of time reviewing adding and subtracting with equations. This needs to be a firm knowledge as it is the foundation to all upcoming work with algebra. The transition into equations from expressions mean we are solving for a variable and balancing the equation. We will go over this in class and answer any and all questions you may have.

The make up test for chapter 6 will be on Wednesday and Thursday. You must make sure you attend a tutorial time with me to review the concepts prior to the makeup test.

The homework of the day:

The chuckle of the Day:
Math teacher: " If 1 + 1 = 2 and 2 + 2 =4, what is 4 + 4?"
Emily:"That's not fair. You answer all the easy ones and leave us the hard ones!" Hee Hee Hee......

April Fool's Day to all.
