Good afternoon fellow Allagash team,

Well as most of you expected or were dreaming, we had a snow day! I hope all of you are totally enjoying this day. I also wanted to remind all of you to bring in the muffins for "muffin morning" if you were called. If not, please remember to bring in juice if you are in Mrs. Tims or my homerooms and fruit if you are in Mr. Littlefield or Mr McCarthy's rooms if you are able to. On our last day of school for this year, we will have breakfast, watch a movie, eat lunch, then join everybody in the gym for a sporty basketball game with teachers vs students! Sounds like a nice way to start your winter vacation!

Until tomorrow,
Mrs, Charle McAtee

Good morning all,

I hope you are well rested, had a good breakfast and ready to go. Today we are testing out of Chapter 3 DATA ANALYSIS. Remember to bring in a calculator to use for this test. It may come in handy especially figuring out the mean of data sets. If you do have questions, please come in to see me in the early morning before school begins and certainly at tutorial time for those who are testing afternoon.

Anyways - here's to a clear mind today in math!

Mrs. Charle McAtee

Your homework for the REST of the year is to look for the math around you in your everyday lives!!

12-18-07

Well we got through yesterday when we all expected to have a snow day or at least a few extra hours of time in the morning due to the nor easter on Sunday. Oh well, at least we are one day closer to summer vacation!

Objective for the day: surprise!- DATA ANALYSIS

Anyways, here we are on Tuesday. We need to review the histogram graph and the specifics on it such as the frequency table ( table that organizes how frequent the data appear in the intervals) and the intervals ( range of numbers rather than a specific one)that make this graph unique. With of all the graphs we have studied so far in this chapter, the histogram is another graphic way to organize data(information) so that meanings, conjectures and conclusions may be drawn.

Along with the several graphs, bar graphs(comparing),line graphs(span over time), stem and leaf plot(unique place value), box and whisker plot( 3 medians that make the box with the 2 whisker outliers), or the histogram( frequency tables and intervals), we need to draw meaning from the mean, median, mode and range pertaining to these graphs.

Homework for the night is to study for the test on Chapter 3 on Wednesday. The classwork is the chapter review at the end of the chapter- you may work in teams and do this on whiteboards or whatever to make this happen. I will not be collecting this work, but none the less, expect you and your partners to do the review to prepare for the test on Wednesday. Remember, that you may use a calculator on the test, so bring it in as it will be a dear friend to use calculating all those means. Another way to help prepare for the upcoming test is to go on classzone.com and work on the animated math or eworkbooks, and of course, ask me any question you have prior to the testing if you come across anything confusing while reviewing.

GOOD Morning,
Hope to see all of you in class today. What a tough weekend. Were you surprised not to see that the district delay the opening? I certainly was. Oh well, here we are.

Objective of the Day: DATA ANALYSIS

In math class today we are moving on with the data analysis instruction. We will review the terms related to this topic as in: mean, median, mode, range, data sets, bar graphs, line graphs, stem and leaf plots, box and whisker plots, and so on. What a lot of terms to learn, use and understand to be able to make meaning of graphs.
For the new instruction of the material, we will cover Histograms and what specifics it holds, such as frequency tables use to organize information in this graph.

Homework for the day:
p. 132-134 # 2, 7, 9, 10, 14

Hi there,

Just thought I would jot a blog to those who are on the web this weekend. First of all, I hope you are having a relaxing time with your families and getting caught up with your sleep. Next, I just wanted to remind all of you that some of your parents will be called sometime in the next few days to donate muffins for this upcoming Friday (12/21.), for our last day of this year party!!!! Those of you who are not called, we kindly ask you folks to donate fruit if you are in Mr. Littlefield or Mr. McCarthy's homeroom, and juice if you are in Mrs. Tims or my homeroom if you are able to do so. We will be able to chow down on these during our movies in the morning, just before the afternoon schoolwide festivities. Thank you in advance for helping out especially in this busy season. Anyways, after hearing the weather forecast once again, it looks like we are in for a whoopping big storm(I believe I heard the word,Noreaster, coming in). So stay turned to your tv or radios early on Monday morning. SO until Monday or Tuesday, have a great weekend and play safe!

Always in math,
Mrs. Charle McAtee

PS Remember to have your parent see and then sign your progress reports and bring them in on Monday(Tuesday).

Good morning EVERYBODY,

It is a good day being back here at school. I missed all of you and I am sure you missed me!!!!

Mr. Plant left notes that you were well behaved as I expected of you. Great job. Makes me feel as if I CAN leave and work gets done. Thank you all.

Objective of the day: DATA ANALYSIS
We will review the specific terms: mean, median, mode, range, bar graphs, line graphs, and stem and leaf plot graphs. Hopefully all questions will be answered today.
New subtopic of Data Analysis is the BOX AND WHISKER-

Homework for the day is: OH HAPPY DAY - It's the weekend.

PS. Thank you for all of the donations to the stocking- this young lady will certainly enjoy this at Christmas.

PPSS. Today is the day that Progress Reports go out from each subject. Make sure you have your parents sign these and return to your homeroom teacher.

Hi there class,
As you can tell by now I am not there. I am not feeling well but should be in on Friday. Make sure that you are all on your best behaviors for the substitute as she will be informing me of the happening when I return.

Please correct the homework from yesterday on bar and line graphs. If you still have questions, please ask them when I return. I would like you all to continue on with the class discussion on organizing and understanding information formatted in charts and graphs.

The objective for today continues on with DATA ANALYSIS and the specifics on the STEM AND LEAF PLOT GRAPH. What exactly is a Stem and Leaf Plot Graph? When would you use a Stem and Leaf Plot Graph?

Open your book to Chapter 3.3 and review this section to try and answer the above questions. Continue onto Classzone.com in this section and work on these graphs. There is no homework for tonight, but if you have time, continue on Classzone for this chapter in TUTORIAL.

Always in math,
Mrs. Charle McAtee

PS Thanks goes out to all the kids who stayed after school yesterday for the PULLTAB PARTY. The 16 th necklace was tied together and the 17 th is on it's way.

PPSS I also need 4 kids to take care of the bottles and cans in the cafe today. Please take care of this and put the whole bags inside the recycle cans in the back of the room and snap the lids on tightly. I will take care of the cleaning on my return. Thank you.

Good morning. What a fine morning this is. Are you ready to dig in? Here we go.....

In math today we will check last night's homework: P. 103 -105 #8,17,21,23,24,38,39. This work covered the data analysis topics of mean, median, mode, range. How do you think you did? We'll find out in class. Beyond the textbook work - I will be checking in on the corrections and signatures from your parents on both of the chapter 10 tests.

Objectives for the day: DATA ANALYSIS

The new material we will cover today is again dealing with data analysis covering the specifics of bar graphs and line graphs. Both of these are visual representations of information. Bar graphs are used to compare data where line graphs show a change in data over time. We will draw conclusions from several graphs presented.

Classwork/homework: p. 111-113 # 1,6,10,12,13,14,18, 19-26

Check out classzone.com for extra help and practice.

Challenge of the day:(21-2)
In a survey it was found that, on an average, each person watched 30 hours and 47 minutes of television per week. How much tv would each person have wathced in a year?
