What a winterland Wednesday!!

It's great to be in today. Hope you feel the same.

In math class we will continue on with our work with fractions using all of the 4 operations. We will go over division with fractions and whole numbers and hopefully cover all questions and concerns you may have with these. The test over this material on using fractions with the 4 operations only( not the metric conversions at the end of the chapter)will be Friday. Besides class time, there is tutorial time and morning times to come in and get extra help. Reviewing by going on classzone.com chapter 5 is also a great way to prepare for this test besides doing the homework.

The homework for tonight is pages 242-243 # 1-33.

The chuckle for the day: What happens when you cross a friend with a calculator?
You get a friend you can count on!!! Hee Hee Hee....

FYI: Conference time sheets are coming out today. Conferences are next week on Thursday and Friday.

MEA's are coming up in the week of March 10.

Happy Tuesday,

Glad to be here especially with the forcasted weather report for tonight and tomorrow morning. Hope we make it in tomorrow also.

Anyways in Math we are moving on with the operations with FRACTIONS. Yesterday we reviewed multiplying fractions( multiply the numerators and denominators across then simplify)and we will go over the homework for any questions you may have doing this independent work. Did you feel that multiplying is easier than adding or subtracting fractions? I like not doing that extra step and not getting a common denominator in multiplying fractions. Today we will move on to the last operation- division with fractions, mixed numbers and whole numbers. Bet that was not a surprise to any of you!
We will define RECIPROCAL and find the tricks to performing this operation. Hint: related to multiplying with fractions!!!

I will be checking the corrections and parent signatures from the Chapter 4 test passed back yesterday so be ready with that work also.

The classwork- homework for the day is pages224-225 #3,5,6,8,10,11,13,16,21,25,28,29,31,32,35.

The chuckle for the day: If one is not enough, two is company and three's a crowd, what's four and five?

Nine! Hee Hee Hee....

Have a great day and stay tuned to the tv for the weather tomorrow morning. Hope to see all of you on Wednesday - NO MORE SNOW DAYS - .....

FYI: Parent Conferences are coming up next week on Thursday and Friday ( March 6-7). Look for the conference sheets for times slots to the conference coming out in the next couple of days.

Welcome back,

Wow, what a week. Hope your vacation was just wonderful. Are you ready to be back?
Well, here we go...

In math class we are moving on with fractions. After a quick review with adding and subtracting fractions( remember the trick of common denominators) we will move onto MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS with MIXED NUMBERS. Look for that trick- multiply across the numerators and denominators) I always felt that this operation was actually easier as it doesn't have the tough step of common denominators. What are your thouhgts?

The homework for the day is pages 218-219 # 3,8,9,16,23,24,25,31,33,36,39-49. Seems like a lot but you will have a great deal of classtime to work on this assignment also.

The second homework assignment is to make corrections(on separate sheet) the chapter 4 tests and have your parent signature on the test itself. Remember this keeps parents informed of your work in math class and it is most often time a bragging right for you folks.

The chuckle of the DAY:
What does the zero say to the eight? Nice Belt!! Hee Hee Hee....

Have a great day,
Mrs. CM

Good Friday Morning,

Well here we are, the day before the vacation. We can do it so hang on.

Spirit week theme today is Mix It Up Day-

In math class we will be working on the Jeopardy Review Board. This should be the end of the work, and then we are off to play with the review games. Hopefully, this may happen today.

The Chuckle of the Day:
Which weighs more? A pound of gold or a pound of feathers?
Both of them weight a pound. Hee Hee Hee....

Have a fascinating week next week.

Happy Valentines Day to you,

What a nice day to be back. Spirit week continues on and so does math, so here we go.

In math class we are doing a multiple of things today. First, finish off the Aleks pie: Secondly, finish off the Jeopardy Review Game, and thirdly, go to AAAmath or Classzone.com. Talk about a tech day!

The chuckle of the Day: Why is a long nose only 11 inches long?
Because if it were 12 inches, it would be a foot! Hee Hee Hee..

Have a great Valentines Day.

Burrrrr Again on this Fine Tuesday Morning,

Even with the Spirit Week on the Second Day- Career Day, we do have math class.

On today's agenda we will be covering adding and subtracting Fractions. The trick to these operations is to make sure the denominators are common - the same. With that on your minds, this should be a breeze today. We will answer any and all questions and then move onward to Multiplying FRACTIONS. What's the TRICK with those? We will also deal with mixed numbers - remember those? Hang on for a heavy load of math today.

No homework today in the text- (did I hear a hurrah!!!)

The chuckle for the Day: Number 2 said to number 3: "Boy, number 6 is really bad news. He's always in trouble."
Number 3 replied, "What do you expect. He's a product of our times!" Hee Hee Hee....

Stay tuned to the news as I have heard there is another snow storm blowing in tonight into the morning.

Burrrr...... It's Monday,

Welcome back to class this brisk morn. I hope you had a great weekend. I certainly did.
This is SPIRIT WEEK:
Monday: Crazy Hair
Tuesday: Career Day
Wednesday: Beach Day
Thursday: Pink, White and Red Day
Friday:Mix Up Day

With this week being SPIRIT week, we still need to focus on Math as hard as that is. So...
In math class we are working on the Jeopardy review boards. Bring in your 10 questions and answers(page #)along with your laptops to class. We will continue on with the board and have them finished up within this week.

Your homework that was due this morning will be covered on Tuesday. There is no new homework assigned today.

The Chuckle for the Day: Who designed King Arthur's Round Table?
Sir Cumference, of course. Hee Hee Hee....

2-8-07

Well it's Friday,
We made it to the end of another week. Oh how the time flies. Hope you are rested and ready for the day.

Our schedule is a strange one today due to a survey that will be completed - the day's schedule is located outside in the common area. Periods 4&5 are meeting but for shortened classes while Periods 2&3 are meeting for the regular amount of time. But be aware that the day does not follow the Friday periods, it follows the Wednesday periods! In addition, we are going to the Friday's tutorial class! NOW KEEP THAT STRAIGHT. And no, this is not the chuckle for the day!

In math class, we will continue on with Adding and Subtracting Fractions. These 2 operations with fractions seem to be more difficult than the other two operations of multiplying and dividing, as you have the step of common denominators. Hopefully all questions on the computation are cleared up today. Always remember to put all fractions in simplest form whenit is an answer.

For those that choose, you may opt out of the class discussion this day and take a pretest on Chapter 5 today in class.

Keep on working on the 10 questions and answers (page numbers) for the jeopardy board you are creating soon.

There is no homework today so enjoy your weekend.

The Chuckle for the Day: What did Math say to Science?
I sure have problems! Hee Hee Hee...

2-7-08

Good Thursday Morning,

Well here's another day of not meeting. What a wild winter week!! Until tomorrow, stay safe and have fun in the snow today.

The Chuckle for the Day:
In math class, Mrs.CM asked Kristen how many will remain, if you subtract 1 from 100?
Kristen: "Two zeros." !! Hee Hee Hee...

Hi Class,

I'm back after missing an exciting day yesterday with the late start. So we are off .....

In math class we will review what was covered yesterday with ADDING and SUBTRACTING FRACTIONS. The homework from yesterday is still a go for today. We should be able to plow through the concepts in good shape today.

There is no POD as the homework will cover this.

The chuckle for the DAY:
What kind of tree does the math teacher have?
A geome-tree!! Hee Hee Hee....

Make today be your best ever.

2/4/08

2-5-08

It's Super Tuesday, and no, it's not because I am not there!!!Hee hee hee...

I am out for the day but I do want the fine work to continue on as if I were there though. Be on your best behavior and have a good day.

(I just heard that school is on a 2 hour delay so the schedule will change. Review the new material listed below on adding and subtracting fractions, but the homework is not due on Wednesday, but rather on Thursday.)

For those of you who were absent on Monday or those who need to complete the test, the make up on Chapter 4 test will be on Wednesday during SSR/tutorial.

In math class, we are starting chapter 5 - ADDING AND SUBTRACTING FRACTIONS. The trick to these is making sure the denominators are the same and if they are not- MAKE THEM the same by LCM- LCD. Then make sure the answer is in simplest form.

For homework(classwork): Pages 207 -208 #6,8,16,18,19,20,21,22,24,28,32,34
Make sure you write down the problem, show all work and box in the answers. The word problems should follow the POD format. These word problems will be the PODs for today - include them in your homework and not separately.

The chuckle for the day:
Teacher: How much is half of 8?
Chelsea: Up and down or across?
Teacher: What do you mean?
Chelsea: Well, up and down it makes 3, but across the middle it make it 0!!! Hee Hee Hee...

FOR MY MATH TEAM( especially to Patty, Forrest, Max, and Joey,): Here's to the best competition so far. Be your best and remember the strategies we talk about in class. Good luck in today's meet. If you have a moment to drop me a comment on how it went, do so as I will check in with them from home.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs. CM

2-4-08

Good MONDAY morning to all,
I hope you all had a great and restful weekend even with the event of the Pats loss.

In math class we are taking chapter 4 test on FRACTIONS. Are you ready? I believe you are so do your best.

No homework from the textbook nor POD!!!! Yippee....But start getting your ten question, answers and page numbers type up and ready for Thursday.

The chuckle of the Day:
How many eggs can you put in an empty basket?
Only one, after that the basket is not empty. Hee Hee Hee.....

Have a good day.

FYI: Report cards go out today.
February vacation is coming up in 2 weeks!
