HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY. Again, I was expecting a day off or at least an hour delay, so I am a bit groggy from the long break, but none the less, it is nice to be back. Hope you all feel the same.

Getting back to math class, we reviewed Chapter 3 on Data Analysis with the focus on the different types of graphs: line graphs, bars graphs, stem and leaf plot graphs, box and whisker plot graphs, and histograms, and when do we use the particular graphs to organize information in a meaningful manner.

Then onward to Chapter 4 with an overview on FRACTIONS. Before we actually start fractions, we start off with today's lesson on PRIME and COMPOSITE NUMBERS. A prime number is a number that only has itself and 1 as factors(ex: 7 7 * 1) where a composite number has more factors than itself and 1(ex: 9 9*1 3*3 ). After a quick review of these two terms, we jumped right into Prime Factorization using factor trees and getting numbers down to the prime factors. Does this ring a bell from last year?

For classwork to be finished off as homework, we did page 159-161 # 8,9,16,17,19,26,28,29,32,35,53,58. As always, you must have a complete headings, write down the problems, show all work and then box in answers in a neat fashion on your paper. Add a comment to the top of the page on how you feel the work is. And before you go berserk, the work is fairly easy and more than anything, a review from last year. So thank your last year's teacher for doing a great job covering this objective.
